Ivo Neame

Ivo is developing a reputation as one of the most exciting and original pianists to emerge in some time. Well known as the pianist with Phronesis and with Norwegian saxophonist Marius Neset, his most release CD release Strata saw him reach new heights as a composer with a set of exuberant and creative originals. Ivo leads a new quartet at the Festival, playing a mix of his existing and new compositions.

Ivo studied at the Royal Academy of Music and since leaving in 2003, he’s gone on to perform and with  record with such highly regarded musicians as Kenny Wheeler and Hermit Pascoal. He’s played on more than 40 albums and a sideman and leader. His most recent honour was for Best Jazz Act, in the MOBO awards with Phronesis.

One of his first gigs after leaving RAM was to play in Gwilym Simcock’s Nonet at the 2003 Swanage Jazz Festival.
