Andy Hague

Andy has been one of the leading figures on the thriving Bristol jazz scene for the past twenty five years. Since his first appearance in Swanage at the third festival, he’s led several bands for which he’s composed and arranged the music and played trumpet and drums with several of the special festivals bands we’ve booked.

Andy first formed Silverado to play the music of pianist Horace Silver over a decade ago. Since Silver passed away in June 2014 we’re honoured to present the band as a tribute to his great legacy. Silver’s music is full of blues and soul, and he wrote many tunes with funk and latin influences. Some of his tunes are really simple but always effective, some are harmonically extremely challenging for the players but still maintain that bluesy feeling. Silverado mainly plays fresh arrangements of tunes transcribed from the recordings rather than the commonly played Silver tunes available in the Real Books.
