The Dixie Ticklers are one of the UK’s most respected acoustic bands. As they revisit and transform classic New Orleans music, this hard working band is building a fierce live reputation within jazz, the vintage scene and Europe’s festival circuit.
Old masters like Kid Ory, Sidney Bechet, Louis Armstrong and Jelly Roll Morton hopefully would have approved of their interpretation of “Salty Dog”, “I wish I could Shimmie like my sister Kate” and “Wild Man Blues”. They have released three albums including Live in London and PARADE: New Orleans Jazz for Kids. These guys are so hot, that even New Orleans enthusiast Woody Allen has a copy of their record.
Previous performances include: Green Man Festival 2011, Snake City Jazz Festival 2011(Denmark), Caveau de la Huchette (Paris), Shambala Festival, Bale International Jazz Festival, Meadowlands Festival, Thames Festival, White Mink Ball, Clerkenwell House, Greenwich Riverfront Jazz Festival, German Embassy, Royal Albert Hall, Blackheath Rugby Club, Royal College of Music, London School of Economics, Chelsea Arts Club, Kiss FM Algarve, ULU, Duke of York Square, Southwark Cathedral, Tower of London, Borough Market, Fulham Palace, Kensington Palace, German YMCA, Fox and Hounds (Pimlico – best pub in London), Waldorf Astoria, A field in Dorset, A field near Canterbury, Schubert Society of GB, Wembley Stadium, National Theatre, Cafe des Artes, Bude Jazz Festival, The Great Escape Festival, Henley Festival, Intercontinental Hotel, Banqueting House
